Hi –
I was just curious what other firm’s best practices were with regard to trading. We are looking to improve our trading processes, and are looking to leverage TOM or Eclipse however we can. We custody with TD and Scottrade.
We currently have 2 processes – one for blocks and one for individual trades.
For block trades, when I get the word from the CIO, I will create the orders in TOM, and send out an excel file to the portfolio managers to get back to me with any modifications or exclusions. Once I hear back from them, I generate the trade file and give it to our traders to upload to our custodians.
Individual trades are handled by the portfolio managers. They fill out paper tickets, which they then give to our traders to input.
Does your firm have similar processes? Do you use iRebal or a FIX connection? If your managers use TOM, how to you manage having multiple users at the same time?
